George Frideric Handel

Handel was one of the great German Baroque composers. He moved from Germany to England, where he became a citizen in 1726. Handel primarily wrote many operas and oratorios, the most famous of which is his Messiah. He also composed concerto grossi, Overtures, Suites, and many other orchestral and chamber pieces. His most famous orchestral works are the Water Music and the Music for the Royal Fireworks. Handel greatly contributed to English music and culture, even though he was originally born in Germany. His many compositions all have an elegance, nobility, and strength that embody the greatest achievments of the Baroque Era.
